Maidens Cove – Cape Town, South Africa

The Picture

So when you look at the picture I am sure that you wonder what it has to do with hiring a Certified Professional Coach – the answer, Nothing. It is just one of many landscape pictures I took when I recently traveled to Cape Town, South Africa. It is a picture from Maidens Cove – one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

However, what the picture metaphorically represents is that state in your life where everything is serene and you have completed all that you’ve set out to accomplish. It represents a job well done. This state of tranquility is highly desired by all people and it is something that can be accomplished with the assistance of a Coach.

What exactly is Coaching?

If you are like me, when I first heard about the concept of coaching, I assumed that it was working with someone who instructed me on how to perform an action. I mean after all, my basketball coach told me which plays to run, how to dribble past defenders, when to pass the ball, and football coaches provide a playbook for the players, so why wouldn’t a Certified Professional Coach be any different? While there are some similarities between sports coaches and Certified Professional Coaches, the biggest difference is that a sports coach tells the player what is wrong and provides a prescription for how to fix it whereas a Certified Professional Coach’s role is to act as a strategic partner and assist you in moving past your obstacles towards accomplishing your desired goals while holding you accountable. Coaching has a methodology and should follow a process.

Why do I need a Coach?

A very good question indeed! A Certified Professional Coach will assist you in exploring possibilities and solutions, providing perspective and help you to set goals and accomplish them. When you reach that point in life when you feel stuck; and you aren’t progressing to the next level, or maybe you don’t even know what the next level should be, then you should consider working with a Certified Professional Coach. It is important to note that a good Certified Professional Coach will have a technique for providing you with the assistance you need. This technique will quickly assess your current situation and immediately begin to move you forward towards completing your goals and objectives.

Should my Coach be an expert?

This is a common misconception often held by many people. While it is very helpful if your Coach has domain knowledge in the area where you need assistance – that isn’t required. Moreover, a Certified Professional Coach is bound by a Code of Ethics through the International Coach Federation (ICF) to accurately identify coaching qualifications, expertise, experience, certifications and ICF Credentials. This conversation will allow you to determine if you feel that the Coach is able to inspire you to maximize your personal and professional potential.

When working with a Certified Professional Coach, staying motivated is key. And what’s more, monitoring progress is a proven way to stay on course. If you chose to work with me, I’ll hold you to your plan. When life happens as it always does, we can make adjustments as circumstances and priorities shift. Let me work with you to unleash your potential and realize your goals.
